Here we have another old template in need of some vital improvements. Our client approached us with a few key concerns. They wanted a template that didn’t feel heavy, like their existing one. They wanted layouts that were open, with plenty of empty space. And they asked for design elements to accentuate the feeling of ease we were being asked to create.
Their existing template used a dark blue-gray background. Usually dark backgrounds are best for presenting in dark rooms, so we asked how often our client was presenting in that setting. Their answer: almost never. We immediately switched to a white background. We also discovered that most of their presentations take place in conference rooms with large screens or monitors with between three and thirty attendees. In close quarters like this, there is no need to use over-sized type like you might in a large auditorium or hotel ballroom. We then proceeded to design master layouts and template slides with smaller type and a lot of white space to create a luxurious feel. Warm colors and graphic accents were then added to give the slides a touch of friendliness.
Our client was very pleased with their new theme and template, enough so that we were hired again to adapt this template to several other presentation settings including the occasional dark room and ballroom.
